ALL AGLOW - (previously broadcast on BBC Radio 4)

Written By: Brian Clark

Mill girls

scurrying to clock on,

crowned with coloured curlers,

shivering.

Young heads bowed

in the rain-grey gloom of the back-to-backs:

'Howjagerron las' night wi' Jimmy Fairfax?'

'Well....alright....y'know'

As they glance at the clock above the sign:

UNCLE JOE'S MINT BALLS KEEP YOU ALL AGLOW!

Blonde Betty

crosses the cobbles

stiletto-heeled wobbles

for her Romeo and Valentine

at the shop below the sign:

UNCLE JOE'S MINT BALLS KEEP YOU ALL AGLOW!

she dreams of Majorca

and buys a quarter

to keep her all aglow.

UNCLE JOE ON HOLIDAY      In Tasmania - Australia!

Mr Eddie Touhey and his wife recently returned from a holiday in Australia during which they spent 10 days in Tasmania. Whilst touring they visited a town - wait for it - called St Helens where they had lunch at the 'Village Store' which was also a Deli & Coffee Shop.

Upon sitting down Mr Touhey and his wife immediately noticed a shelf display of Uncle Joe's and mentioned to the owner that they originated from the town (Wigan-Lancashire) famous for, amongst other things, the manufacture of Uncle Joe's. The owner told Mr & Mrs Touhey that they were a relatively new line for the store and she gave them permission to take a photograph (below) Thanks for the picture.

Uncle Joe's Mint Balls love to go on holiday. If you have any photographs of Uncle Joe's Mint Balls on holiday please send them to us at the address below, or e-mail us at unclejoe@uncle-joes.com

The photograph doesn't need to be of Uncle Joe's abroad, it could be a picture in a nightclub, on a day trip, out shopping or at famous landmarks - we will leave it to your imagination !!
